Put out of service with the Austrian Army three decades ago. Apparent problems with the engine’s output power were the reason. 25 m.p.H. was the top speed. After an endless search for the cause and numerous tests, I finally found why it was not running properly: on four spark plug wire ends in the distributor cap, chewing gum had been put in (almost not visible), thus limiting the spark’s power, so it would only run on all six cylinders when idling. When given more r.p.m’s, the engine would barely run on three to four cylinders.
The GMC is best used as a cargo carrier, when we go out for vehicle conventions. It carries a Jeep or Weasel on its cargo bed, mostly an additional Jeep follows on the triangle tow-bar.

Unloading in the field:
Drop down the GMC’s tailgate, start the Jeep in reverse and back out with a thrust on the gas pedal.
