This vehicle was used by the Austrian Police
(“B-Gendarmerie”) after WW II. After being put out of service,
probably around the early sixties, it was sold to a junkyard owner near
Vienna. When I saw this M8 for the first time, a tree was growing out
of the turret, and the engine only existed in parts

I bought the pile of scrap metal and applied
for an ownership permission with the authorities. After I received the
permission, the restoration was started. The engine was useless, a replacement
had to be bought.

After primering and re-painting all parts,
and reassembling the engine, it was well on its way back to service, as
a fully functioning M8. |
